There isn't a link for comments on the entry about Eric Rice's blog or else I would have put this there. There's an online group called Stealth Volunteers whose members try to locate hurricane evacuees and reunite them with their pets. We have had made many reunions possible but we need more help. If anybody would like to join, please go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/stealthvolunteers/ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/stealthvolunteers2/

it wouldn't let me comment on the labradoodles post, so here it is.. i think the xolo, mexican hairless dog, is hypoallergenic. i'm an animal lover that's allergic to dogs myself so have researched the whole thing.. spent an hour or so playing with some american hairless terriers and broke out in hives an hour afterwards.. but they feel like they have SKIN.. i pet a xolo in mexico, though, and their skin is.. different. like leather. plus, they eat carrots. (i'm a vegetarian.) you can find them sometimes in shelters or on petfinder.org - but they're the closest thing i would imagine to hypoallergenic there is.
experiment w/ different dogs too - i'm way more allergic to some than others. and claritin works wonders for me and cats. i'm DEATHLY allergic to cats yet have three thanks to claritin.. and i just started allergy shots.
SO - there are ways! j. is just going to have to experiment! and start on shots!!! they worked wonders for my friend!
good luck :)
