Caution: Amazing stories lie ahead...
Pepper, the little black and tan in the middle of the picture, adopted us where we used to live. He had severe teeth problems that we had corrected but it might not have been soon enough for him, since he died 9 years later at 12 yrs of age of chest cancer. Willy, the chocolate-colored one, was adopted from the local humane society, and has a confidence problem, along with anxiety attacks which lead to epileptic-like seizures. We just make sure he doesn't know when the mailman comes, and he seems to do fine. Del, the red one, is similar to Nunu in your story of The Dog Whisperer. He didn't like anyone at first, then only me and now recently, is being loving to everyone. It just took tons of love to get him to trust again. He suffers from epilepsy, but his seizures are getting further apart and thus far, doesn't need meds for it. Finally, Dexter, the other black and tan. He was rescued along with Del, but was so emaciated, he was a walking coma. Del and Dexter are inseparable. I feel my boys are very extraordinary, in that, they defied all the odds against them, abandonment, suffering and disease, in their search to their now happy home.

Tish, Modern Pooch thanks you for submitting this story and photo and for being an incredible friend to Dachshunds.
